Texas Wine Tours provides vineyard and winery tours of the Texas Hill Country and Fredericksburg TX.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are the tours?

The answer to this question has to be “It depends!” It depends on what you want to do, where you want to be picked up and how many people the reservation is for. In general, our ‘short tour’ is $50.00 per person and our ‘long tour’ is $100.00 per person. ‘Long tours’ include lunch and wine tasting in the price while the ‘short tour’ does not. Additional fees may be required if your pick-up point is somewhere other than Fredericksburg. Group discounts are available for 8 or more persons. Taxes are not included in the per person price.

Do we have to start in Fredericksburg?

No! On our ‘long tour’ or ‘special tour’, we can pick you up Austin or San Antonio areas or in other parts of the Hill Country. Pick-up points, other than Fredericksburg, require at least 8 persons and an additional pick-up fee will be added. Please call us for details.

What tour options do we have?

Depending on the lead time and the number of patrons, you have a variety of options for your tour. We have two “standard” tours. The ‘long tour’ starts at about 10:30am with a pick-up at your lodging (in the Fredericksburg area only) and visits 5 wineries or tasting rooms. While there is no set schedule for this trip (length of visit at each winery is at your discretion), we usually return around 5:00/6:00pm. This tour includes a picnic lunch and wine tasting at the wineries you visit. Depending on the weather, the picnic lunch may be indoors or outdoors.

If you are visiting Fredericksburg and all day is too long for your taste, we also offer a ‘short tour’ which visits 3 wineries or tasting rooms. The ‘short tour’ starts at 1:00 pm and lasts approximately 2 ½ hours and does not include lunch or complimentary tasting. Pick-up point for the ‘short tour’ is at the Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor’s Bureau located at 302 East Austin Street. The tour boards from the bus ramp and will return to the same location. There is ample parking for your vehicle behind the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. ‘Long tours’ take precedence, so please call to check for availability. 877 TEX-WINE or 997-TOUR

Custom tours are available and can be tailored to your desires. There is an 8 person minimum. Please call for details.

How many people can we take?

We refer to our vehicle as a “limousine coach”. It is a bus chassis outfitted as a limousine with leatherette sofas. We can legally carry 14 passengers.

Other amenities in the coach include wine cooling compartments, stereo and VCR, and of course wine glasses! This is NOT one of those super stretch monsters other limousine companies use where you have to crouch and slide for miles to get to your seat. In our vehicle, an NBA player can walk to his seat without dipping his head.

Can we bring coolers and our own alcohol on the coach?

No! You may purchase wine at the wineries and bring it on the coach for consumption.

How long are the tours?

Our goal is to make your tour as relaxing and educational as possible. Therefore, we don’t have a set itinerary for them. Our customers determine how long we spend at a particular winery. However, experience has shown that 45 minutes to one hour is about average for each winery stay.

This works out to 6 or 7 hours for the 5 winery ‘long tour’ and 2 to 3 hours for the 3 winery ‘short tour’.

Can we “taste” in between wineries?

Yes. Texas’ open container law has exceptions for limousines.

Can we make a reservation for a “non-winery” tour?

Certainly! We have taken reservations for weddings, proms, business meetings, and dinner trips to Austin and San Antonio. Our “limo coach” is perfect for groups of up to 14 who want luxurious transportation without the worrying about drinking and driving.

No alcohol is allowed on the coach when any tour member is under the age of 21!

Group minimum is 8 persons. Call us to discuss your tour needs.
